The bands, with the clicks
What each band buys at Birmingham click prices, and who usually sits in it
Clicks assume £3, which is inside the range most Birmingham service searches land in; legal, dental and some trade searches cost more and the sector pages say so. The all-in column is ad spend plus the fee, which is the figure every report divides by the enquiries.
| Ad spend a month | Tier and fee | All-in | Clicks at £3 | Who usually sits here |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Up to £1,000 | Starter, £249 | Up to £1,249 | Up to about 330 | A one-van trade, a neighbourhood restaurant, a single-branch agent, an independent garage |
| £1,001 to £3,000 | Growth, £399 | Up to £3,399 | Up to about 1,000 | A shop on Search and Shopping, a two-office law firm, a firm covering the Black Country as well as the city |
| £3,001 to £8,000 | Scale, £599 | Up to £8,599 | Up to about 2,700 | A dealer group, a manufacturer with a CRM to import from, a hotel or venue with several campaigns |
Flat against percentage
What happens to each fee when the budget doubles
Take a Birmingham business spending £2,000 a month. An agency on 15 per cent of spend earns £300. In month four the account is working and the impression share report says more budget would buy more enquiries, so the spend goes to £4,000. The percentage fee becomes £600 for the same weekly routine on the same account. Ours is £399 in both months, because £4,000 is still inside the Growth band.
Now take the opposite case. The free check finds that a third of the budget is going on searches that could not buy, and cutting them takes the spend from £2,000 to £1,400 with the same number of enquiries. The percentage agency has just cost itself £90 a month by doing its job. Our fee does not move, and cutting waste is the job.
The home page has the same comparison as a table at three budgets, and the guide to choosing a Birmingham PPC agency has the questions to ask about any fee.
In every tier
What does not change between the bands
- The search terms report read every week, wasted searches excluded the same day
- Calls and forms tracked at setup and re-checked monthly; short calls not counted
- Google's auto-apply recommendations off; its suggestions read and declined in writing
- The account in your name on your Google account, our access removable in one click
- A written report every month with what changed, what was refused and what is next
- One named person who answers the phone and makes the changes
- One business per sector in your area
One-off, and free
The setup, the audit and the free check, side by side
At the start of a monthly plan
Account setup: £199
One-off, at the start of a monthly plan: the account built or rebuilt, tracking proved, the first campaigns live.
- Campaigns, ad groups, keywords and match types agreed with you in writing before a penny is spent
- Conversion tracking for calls, forms and purchases installed and tested, with Consent Mode
- Negative keyword lists seeded for your sector and for the West Midlands place names you do not serve
- Responsive search ads and assets written for every ad group
- Location, schedule, language and device settings set from your business, not from Google's defaults
- Auto-apply recommendations off; billing checked so spend goes to Google on your own card
Stand-alone, credited against setup
PPC audit: £150
A written review of a Google Ads account that is already spending, for a Birmingham business that wants to know where the money goes before it changes anything. Back within 5 working days as a written document with a change list.
Free, 72 hours
Free Google Ads check: £0
A free read of an account that is already spending. Six checks, a short written note back within 72 hours, nothing changed in the account.
The terms, openly
Everything a contract would say, on the page instead
- Minimum term
- 3 months, then month to month.
- Notice
- One month, in writing, after the minimum. The final report is written for whoever takes over.
- Who owns the account
- You. It is on your Google account with your card on the billing; we are a linked manager you can remove.
- Where the ad spend goes
- To Google, on your card, on Google's terms. It never passes through us and it is never marked up.
- What moves the fee
- Your ad spend band, and nothing else. Not the sector, not the number of keywords, not how well it goes.
- VAT
- Added to the fee. Google bills its own VAT on the ad spend.
- Exclusivity
- One business per sector in each area on the monthly plans, confirmed in the reply to your quote.
- Where we are
- 110 Rhosddu Road, Wrexham. No Birmingham office; visits by appointment; the drive times are on the areas page.
Not in the fee
Four things that sit outside every tier, on purpose
- The ad spend itself. Yours, paid to Google. We will tell you what it should be and argue when it should be less.
- A landing page built from nothing. Changes to an existing page are in Growth and above; a new build is quoted, because it depends on what your site can host.
- Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok and Amazon ads. Different auctions and different skills. This site is Google and Microsoft search, Shopping and remarketing.
- A guarantee of results. Nobody controls the auction. What is guaranteed is the routine, the report and the honesty of the numbers in it.
Questions about the prices
Is the fee really flat, with nothing added?
Yes. £249, £399 or £599 a month depending on your ad spend band, plus VAT. No percentage of spend, no mark-up on the ad spend, which goes to Google on your own card, no charge for changes, calls or the report. The only other charges on this site are the one-off £199 setup and the optional £150 audit.
What happens when my ad spend crosses into the next band?
The fee moves to the next tier from the following month, and you hear about it before it happens, in the report, with the impression share numbers that made us recommend the extra spend. It never moves because we suggested spending more; it moves because you agreed to.
Why is there a three-month minimum?
Because the first month is spent removing waste and proving the tracking, and Smart Bidding needs a month of clean data before its numbers mean anything. Judging the account before month three is judging noise. After three months it is monthly, with a month's notice, and the account stays exactly as it is.
Why a setup fee?
Building or rebuilding an account properly is most of a working week: the structure agreed in writing, tracking installed and proved with a test call and a test form, negatives seeded, ads written for every ad group, every setting checked against the business rather than Google's defaults. £199 once, and the £150 audit comes off it if you have paid for one.
Do I need the audit before the monthly plan?
No. The free check is enough to quote from, and the setup covers rebuilding whatever it finds. The audit is for a business that wants the full written reading before it decides anything, and its £150 is credited against setup so nobody pays for the reading twice.
Is my sector still available in Birmingham?
Probably, and the reply to the quote form says so. One business per sector in each area on the monthly plans, because two clients bidding on the same searches in the same place with the same person setting both bids would be paying us to compete against themselves. The first to start keeps the sector.
What is the all-in cost for a small Birmingham business?
Ad spend plus the fee. At £800 of ad spend that is £800 to Google and £249 to us, £1,049 a month plus VAT on the fee, and every cost per enquiry in the report is worked out on that all-in figure rather than on ad spend alone.
Can I pay monthly, and how?
Yes, by bank transfer or card against a monthly invoice, in advance. Ad spend is billed to you by Google directly, on your card, on Google's own terms. Nothing passes through us, and there is no deposit.
Tell us your ad spend. The tier, the fee and the first three changes come back in writing.
Your spend band and your sector are enough for the fee. Add the customer ID and the reply also has the free check.
